Evaluation of a new additive-dominance genomic model and implications for quantitative genetics and genomic selection

چکیده

The Fisher’s infinitesimal model is traditionally used in quantitative genetics and genomic selection, it attributes most genetic variance to additive variance. Recently, the dominance maximization was proposed prioritizes based on alternative parameterizations. In this model, effects at locus level are introduced into after maximized. study, new parameterizations of selection were evaluated compared with applied using best linear unbiased prediction method. As parametric relative magnitude vary allelic frequencies populations, we considered different minor allele compare magnitudes. We also two indices that combine variances estimated by both models. along indices, offers alternatives improve estimates their respective proportions can be successfully evaluation.

Implications of genomic imprinting for psychiatric genetics.

The genetics of psychiatric disease continues to be puzzling; what, for instance, really is the mode of transmission of schizophrenia? Is it polygenic (Gottesman & Shields, 1982)? Is it dominant but incompletely penetrant (Book, 1953), or partly dominant with incomplete penetrance (Slater, 1958); does it involve two loci with epistasis (Matthysse & Kidd, 1976), or is it none of these (O'Rourke ...

Breeding and Genetics: Genomic Selection Methods II

Computer mating programs have helped breeders minimize pedigree inbreeding and avoid recessive defects by mating animals with parents that have fewer common ancestors. With genomic selection, breed associations, AI organizations, and on-farm software providers could use new programs to minimize genomic inbreeding by comparing genotypes of potential mates. Relationships could be computed between...
